Best Brownie Recipe

This is the best brownie recipe ever! Super fudgy brownies that melt in your mouth made with just a few simple ingredients, most of which are probably already in your kitchen.

Brownies in a Row

Get ready to indulge in pure chocolate bliss. This is truly the best brownie recipe, mega chocolatey, chewy, gooey, and seriously dangerous.

Best Brownies Ingredients:

  • Semi-sweet baking chocolate: A 4 oz. bar of semi-sweet baking chocolate makes these brownies so good and not too sweet. Half is melted with the butter and the other half is coarsely chopped and folded into the batter at the end.
  • Butter: This recipe uses all butter and a lot of it for crazy rich, chocolatey and indulgent brownies.
  • Granulated sugar & brown sugar: Use both for the best flavor and texture.
  • Cocoa powder: This recipe uses a 1 to 1 ratio of cocoa powder and flour for the most chocolatey brownies. I highly recommend using special dark dutch processed 100% cocoa powder. It has a flavor that can’t be beaten and is what makes these brownies extra fudgy and good.
  • Eggs: 4 large eggs are perfect for binding the brownies and creating that perfect thick, chewy texture.
  • Vanilla extract: A generous addition of vanilla provides a perfect complimenting flavor.

Brownies Stacked

How to Make Brownies:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°. Line an 8 x 12″ baking pan with aluminum foil and leave an excess hanging over the sides, which makes removing the brownies easier.
  • In a large, microwave-safe bowl, melt 1 cup of butter with half of the baking chocolate. Microwave in 15-30 second intervals, stirring occasionally until melted. Whisk in both sugars, eggs, vanilla, and set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  • Slowly whisk in the flour mixture with the wet ingredients. The batter will be very thick.

Brownie Batter

  • Coarsely chop the remaining baking chocolate and fold it into the batter.
  • Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. The brownies are done when a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean and the center of the brownies only jiggles slightly.

Brownies Prebaked

Brownies Baked

  • Let the brownies cool for 15 minutes before removing from the pan. The longer you let the brownies cool, the more ‘set’ they become.

Best Brownie Recipe

Store brownies at room temperature, covered, for 3 days. Or store in the fridge, covered, for 5 days.

Note: Cook time is for brownies made in an 8 x 12″ pan only. The brownies will be about 1″ thick. Brownies made in different sized pans will have different cook times.
